Lyrics
Red tails from the balcony
Golden hour sun
Raining through the canopy
Lately I just been so-so
Five rings I feel like Miyamoto
This shit speak for itself
It don't need promo
I'm just tryna relax
Go where the shade goes
Vienna on a boat that I don’t row
Got a motor and a captain off an eight ball
They say shoot for the stars and land on the moon
I aimed for for her face and came on her -
I’m sorry
If the sky falls because of you
We’ll throw a party
Champagne, cold vermouth, and soft bodies
Sanguine colored juice, I’m melancholy
It's the same shit nothing new
Carbon copies, replace every other version of you
Lose my mind like I usually do
Floating in hallucinations
Panoramic view of this isolation
Tryna stay calm but the truths amazing
Baby we're all forsaken
Save some, don't want to waste none
The body only gets old
I don't keep none
The parties over here
Party out here
If you wanna shake some
To lose some
Party on the west side
I won't blame you
No judgment here
Already out here
Really out here, cold blooded
Snakeskin bag, with your nose running
Run Lola run, hit the payphone
Need another 100k for the Maison
Take one
Break some
I’m Sirius, taking points from Orion
I’m curious
Can't get trapped in a mirror again
Living my life out like Manchurian
Whoa magnolias coming unfolded
Dancing in the rain while the streetlights red
Moth to a flame let the truth set in
Picasso’s la vie, the blue life we live
The saints gone swimming
Ice melts frost gets warm
I don't want to waste time anymore
I forgot every doubt
Now I’m above town
Floating in hallucinations
Panoramic view of this isolation
Tryna stay calm but the truths amazing
Baby we're all forsaken
Save some, don't want to waste none
The body only gets old
I don't keep none
The parties over here
Party out here
If you wanna shake some
To lose some
Party on the west side
I won't blame you
No judgment here
SOSO
About this track…
SOSO is about finding happiness in quiet moments of clarity, rather than in times when you are rushing into distractions that are fun but ultimately are not the things that make you feel happy and fulfilled.
Maybe the most important part of this song, in terms of its overall meaning, is: “can’t get trapped in a mirror again. Living my life out like Manchurian.” I’m referencing the Manchurian Candidates, who were essentially Russian sleeper agents. The Winter Soldier in Marvel is an example of this. That line points to times in my life when I lost track of what was truly important to me and started operating on autopilot, distracted by external stimuli and tempting, hedonistic activities.
This song is about reflecting on those times from a panoramic viewpoint in the clouds. Watching myself be happy and have fun, and allowing myself to do that, but also reminding myself that I am truly happiest in quiet moments where I can find clarity and understanding in nature, like the moment represented by the first few lines of the song:
Red tails from the balcony
Golden hour sun
Raining through the canopy
One of my main inspirations in a lot of my work is the scripture Qoheleth. I first encountered it during a college course, and its message has stuck with me. I continue to return to it as a philosophical reminder. This song carries the same core idea as Qoheleth: enjoy your life and honor God. But in the lyrics, I’m acting as my own god, looking down on my past self from the clouds. So it becomes a song about honoring your core ideals and beliefs, and always letting those guide you, even if there are times in your life filled with distractions, meaninglessness, and hedonism.
